I've featured these pics before a few years ago , but thought it apt as it ties in with my Avengers screencaps posts . One and a half episodes were fimed featuring Elizabeth Shepherd as Emma Peel but no footage exists it seems. Mrs Peel Mk 1 seems to have a very distinctive look here apparently by wearing bright orangey red leather it would show up better on the screen as black leather (Season 4 was filmed in black and white)
The episodes that were to feature Elizabeth were The Town of No Return (more of which later)and the Murder Market which were eventually refilmed starring Diana Rigg .
The reasons why she was recast seem to be that there was something missing between the chemistry of Peel and Steed (which is one of the essential ingredients of the show even from the first episode of the new season)And that Elizabeth kept making changes to the script , I'm hoping one day we'll get to see footage of these lost episodes as it would make interesting viewing for any Avengers fan .
